How To Make Biodiesel
|
YES YOU CAN! Fact is it is VERY EASY TO MAKE! The chemicals used to do the processing are hazardous, but then so is the toilet bowl cleaner and gasoline for your lawn mower. The key when handling and storing the chemicals is COMMON SENSE! The two basic chemicals are, Methanol (methyl alcohol) and Lye (NaOH sodium hydroxide) which is a commonly used drain opener. While the Methanol is flammable and Lye is caustic , common sense will keep you safe. Biodiesel can be used in virtually any diesel engine with-out any modifications. The exception may be vehicles or AG equipment with rubber fuel lines. You see, Biodiesel is an excellent solvent and will eat natural rubber. Most vehicles made after 1993 should be fine as manufactures began turning to synthetics. Biodiesel has a very high flash point, high enough that it is considered non flammable.
